Terms of Participation - Photo & Story Submissions

Effective date: August 13, 2025

Who we are. “Colorado C.A.R.E.S.” (Colorado Coalition of Animal Rescues and Shelters) (“we,” “us,” “our”) operates rescueandsheltercoalition.org (the “Platform”). “You” means the organization submitting Content.

1) What we provide

Colorado C.A.R.E.S. operates the Platform as a community service for animal rescues and shelters licensed in the State of Colorado under PACFA to network dogs for facility-to-facility transfers. Our role is limited to providing an online listing service. We do not vet or certify participants, broker transactions, transport animals, conduct inspections, or take custody, and we are not a party to any transfer. Listings are posted by the submitting organization and do not constitute an endorsement, recommendation, or warranty of the organization, facility, or animal. We may refuse, modify, or remove listings at our discretion.

2) What this agreement covers

These terms apply when you submit photos, videos, captions, or stories (collectively, “Content”) to Colorado C.A.R.E.S. for display on the Platform or our related channels.

3) Eligibility

You must be an Animal Rescue or Animal Shelter licensed in Colorado (PACFA) and submit Content relating to dogs in your organization’s lawful care.

4) What you promise (Representations)

By submitting, you confirm that:

  • You own the Content or have written permission from the copyright owner.

  • Everyone identifiable in the Content has consented to its use (parent/guardian consent for minors).

  • If the Content was created on private property, you have the property owner’s permission.

  • The Content does not infringe rights of others (copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity).

  • The dog(s) shown were treated safely and humanely; no cruelty, dangerous stunts, or illegal activity is depicted.

  • The Content contains no confidential or sensitive personal data you do not want published (e.g., home addresses, phone numbers, microchip numbers).

5) What we may do with your Content (License)

You grant Colorado C.A.R.E.S. a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable, and transferable license to host, reproduce, adapt (e.g., crop, color-correct, add overlays), publish, display, and distribute your Content in any media to support our mission (including our website, social media, email, printed materials, press, and fundraising/educational campaigns).

  • We may credit your organization's name; tell us if you prefer no credit.

  • We will not sell your Content to unrelated third parties for their independent use.

6) No payment; no employment

Participation is voluntary and uncompensated. Submitting Content does not create an employment or contractor relationship.

7) Moderation

We may review, edit for length/clarity, refuse, or remove Content at any time (e.g., off-topic, unsafe, or inappropriate submissions).

8) Prohibited content

Do not submit Content that includes:

  • Cruelty or unsafe handling of animals; graphic injury; staged distress.

  • Hate speech, harassment, obscenity, or nudity.

  • Spam, unrelated promotions, or malware/links that could harm users.

  • Third-party copyrighted material without permission (e.g., professional photos you do not own).

9) Privacy

We collect only the information you provide with your submission. For networking purposes, we may publish your organization's name and the contact method(s) you provide (email, website, or phone).

10) Takedowns & complaints

If you believe Content on our site infringes your rights, email info@rescueandsheltercoalition.org with:

  • Your name and contact information;

  • A description and link to the Content;

  • The reason you believe it infringes on your rights.

We will review promptly and remove or disable access where appropriate.

11) Removal requests by submitters

You may request that we stop using your Content in future materials by emailing info@rescueandsheltercoalition.org. Previously published items (e.g., past social posts, printed materials) and third-party shares may continue to exist.

12) Your responsibility; our liability

You agree to indemnify us for losses arising from your breach of these terms (e.g., submitting Content you do not own). To the extent allowed by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from participation.

13) Changes to these terms

We may update these terms; the Effective date above will change. Continued participation after updates means you accept the revised terms.

14) Governing law & contact

These terms are governed by the laws of Colorado.
