Who We Are

The Coalition of Animal Rescues and Shelters (CARES) is a group of animal advocates, rescues, and shelters working together to match exceptional dogs with perfect, forever homes.

Our Unique Community Service Program

As a service to our community, we connect animal rescues with shelter dogs at risk of euthanasia due to lack of shelter resources, dogs who have been in the care of the shelter for an extended period of time, and dogs who have been returned to the shelter by previous adopters for one reason or another.

Once we've matched selected shelter dogs with one of our rescue partners, the rescue's dedicated fosters provide each of them with a temporary home. They are never sent to a boarding facility. While dogs are with the rescue's foster family, we connect them to a Finishing School where the dogs learn manners and social skills from certified dog trainers.

Upon graduation from Finishing School, we network every dog on behalf of our rescue partners using proven methods of finding permanent, loving homes. We provide post-adoption support including additional training for dogs and their humans, resources for discounted services and supplies, and, if after all efforts are exhausted and a home proves to be less than perfect, our rescue partner will take the dog back into its program at any time for the rest of the dog's life.

No shelter dog we match to a rescue partner is ever returned to the care of a shelter again.

ZENDAYA

Hi, I'm Zendaya! I'm friendly, goofy, and curious...at least that's what my people at the shelter say. I would add "beautiful" and "delightful"! I can't hear with my ears but I can hear you with my heart!

Hi, I'm Mimosa! Do you need a new BFF? I'm your girl! My people here at the shelter say I'm charming, sociable, and friendly...and I couldn't agree more!
